Biomechs Acculock Ace Putter Makes The Game Easier And Healthier For All Golfers

Warwick, RI BioMech Golf Equipment-a professional company that designs and builds sports equipment based on the bodys physiology and physics-has partnered with the American Parkinson Disease Association to reengage golfers and enhance the joy of the game to players impacted by Parkinsons.

Parkinsons disease is a progressive neurological condition that is characterized by motor problems including slowness of movement, rigidity, and tremor. BioMech Golfs first product, the AccuLock ACE putter, has already demonstrated benefits to golfers with Parkinsons. By virtue of its contact against the golfers leading forearm, the ACE facilitates a simpler, natural core putting motion. An upright, balanced stance helps to control and stabilize the stroke, thus eliminating unwanted and uncontrollable motion in the small muscles of the hands, wrists, and arms. As a result, the ACE gives Parkinsonians and all golfers improved putting control.

My parkinsonian symptoms have made it increasingly more difficult for me to play golf. The design of this putter has given me improved functionality and has allowed me to putt with better consistency and accuracy. The position of the putters shaft against my forearm provides stability and reduces my excessive movement. I am now able to get back out on the golf course and play the game I love, said Jason Tracy, an avid golfer living with Parkinsons disease for 11 years.

NEW YORK, NY August 16, 2017

With a new PD diagnosis every nine minutes, research is critical as we push for better treatments and ultimately, a cure.

The grants are awarded through a competitive application process and reviewed by APDAs Scientific Advisory Board which is comprised of scientists with a wide array of backgrounds and expertise in all areas relevant to PD research. The SAB meets annually to review all grant proposals and set the scientific direction of APDAs annual research investment. Their focus is to identify researchers early in their careers and attract them to the PD field, as well as to help established investigators pursue new and novel ideas. In many cases these projects produce significant pilot data, which has enabled researchers to apply for and receive multimillion dollar research grants from the National Institutes of Health and other funding institutions.

APDA has been a funding partner in many of the significant Parkinsons scientific discoveries in the last 50 years including the work of Dr. George C. Cotzias, which led to establishing the effectiveness of levodopa in treating PD this treatment remains the gold standard in PD treatment today.
