Amy Klobuchar earned our endorsement.
She won it from an editorial board that, like much of the electorate just two weeks away from the Iowa caucuses, has struggled with how to assess the large field of candidates vying for the Democrats 2020 presidential nomination.
How did she do it?
She won our confidence with her three-term record in the U.S. Senate representing the state of Minnesota.
She won our confidence with the way she’s campaigned in Iowa for more than a year.
She won our endorsement by convincing us that, among her rivals, in this divided political culture, she is the best person to push through an agenda that will better the lives of millions of Americans, including those of us who live in eastern Iowa and western Illinois.
Throughout much of the campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination, Klobuchar has been dubbed a moderate.
To many, this is a moniker that implies slow incrementalism.
In truth, that label belies Amy Klobuchar’s vision and her record.
Only in this campaign could it be considered incrementalist to want to make community college, the engine of progress for so many middle-class Americans, free.
Only in this campaign could somebody with a plan to open the door to health care for millions of Americans through Medicare or Medicaid be dubbed just a moderate.
Only in this campaign could somebody with a plan to curb fossil fuel emissions by 2050 be labeled middle-of-the-road.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar shook noticeably during the beginning of Wednesday night’s presidential debate.
At the beginning of the fifth Democratic presidential debate, which took place in Atlanta, people on social media quickly noted that the Minnesota Democrat trembled as she answered questions. While it’s unclear what was causing the shaking, many social media users pointed it out and speculated about it.
Klobuchar, 59, had a witty comment that also sparked interest on Twitter when she noted that there is a double standard in politics based on gender. She supported that claim by pointing out that there hasn’t been a female president of the United States to date.
Her shaking is not a new phenomenon and has attracted some social media attention during previous debates.
She has 1.7% support, according to the RealClearPolitics national average of polls.

Bessler, a native of Mankato, Minnesota, attended Mankato Loyola High School and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelors degree in political science. After finishing his undergrad, Bessler attended the Indiana University School of Law, where he earned his J.D. He continued his education after that, attending Oxford University and earning a masters degree in international human rights law and.
While he went to Indiana, Bessler was the senior managing editor of the Indiana Law Journal and wrote several articles.
Bessler Works As A Legislative Director For New York City Council
According to Bessler works as a legislative director for New York City Council. Specifically, she works for Council Member Keith Power, District 4, and has worked for him since January 2018.
Prior to working at the NYC council, Bessler worked as a speechwriting intern for the organization West Wing Writer from June-December 2017. She also worked as a policy intern on Hillary Clintons presidential campaign, and as an intern for CBS News. Her role in the Clinton campaign reads,

A UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies poll, cosponsored by the Los Angeles Times, released Friday showed that 60.1% of likely voters surveyed oppose recalling Newsom compared with 38.5% in favor of ousting the governor.

But I doubt these accusations are due to an abundance of them on the candidates staff. Their willingness to approach the media about personnel issues bespeaks true abnormality. Bessler And Klobuchar Married In 1993
The future spouses met in a pool hall in the early 1990s in Minneapolis, part of a group of lawyers who went out for drinks after an event at the University of Minnesotas Humphrey School of Public Affairs. Though Klobuchar is 7 years older than Bessler, she initially thought he was much older than her.
Turns out, they hit it off, and Bessler proposed to Klobuchar in a bookstore. Rather than proposing on cliché Valentine’s Day, he chose Abraham Lincolns birthday.
They eventually married and had one daughter, Abigail, who graduated from Yale in 2017.
