In 3 workouts of 30 minutes or less per week, None to Run will take you from ground zero to running comfortably for 25 minutes straight.

None to Run is different from most beginner plans:

  • Focuses on running time. NOT distance or pace.
  • Includes simple strength and mobility workouts. No equipment required.
  • Progresses slowly to decrease the chances of getting injured.

If you can’t currently run for more than 5-minutes straight without stopping to catch your breath, you’re in the right place.

Annual Event At Yeatman’s Cove Raises Funds For Parkinsons Disease Research And Patient Education

On Sept. 8, the University of Cincinnati Gardner Neuroscience Institute will host the 15th annual Sunflower Rev It Up For Parkinsons Run/Walk/Ride at Yeatmans Cove attracting hundreds of walkers, cyclists and runners all coming together to raise funds for Parkinsons disease research and patient education.

Approximately 42 million Americans suffer from some form of movement disorder such as Parkinsons disease.

New this year is a 30K and 60K bike ride as well as the popular 5K walk/run and 3K family walk.

Nearly a million dollars has been raised that has allowed the UC Gardner Center to expand basic and clinical research as well as provide patient education.

Last years proceeds continued to support existing and pilot research, the annual free patient and caregiver symposium that provides valuable patient-focused information and support to over 700 patients annually. It also provided backing to train future neurologists.

In addition to supporting extensive research and programming for movement disorder patients, participants say that the walk gives Parkinsons patients and supporters the opportunity to connect and bond with each other in a fun, uplifting atmosphere.

Wilmers says that Sunflower Rev It Up For Parkinsons has made a huge impact on her family.

The event will also feature live music, local food and craft beer.

Team Wilmers Warriors Help Parkinsons Patients Live Each Moment To The Fullest

We now have a community of friends who understand what we are dealing with every day, says Juli.

Wilmers Warriors will be at this years Sunflower Rev it Up for Parkinsons on Sept. 11, 2022, at Sawyer Point in downtown Cincinnati. The event includes a 1K walk, a 5K walk/run and a 60K bike ride through downtown Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. Funds raised support research and educational efforts at the University of Cincinnati Gardner Neuroscience Institutes James J. and Joan A. Gardner Family Center for Parkinsons Disease and Movement Disorders.

The couple decided to start the Wilmers Warriors team to raise funds and help in the battle against Parkinsons.

According to Juli, Mark is doing remarkable well for being nine years post-diagnosis. I attribute this to his exercise habits, healthy eating, and his wonderful doctors at UC, she says.

Joining the Sunflower Rev It Up race has meant so much to our family and especially to Mark and me, Juli shares. The people who attend the race, whether patients, family members or friends, come in with such a positive outlook. This helps the Parkinsons patients so much to remember it is all about enjoying life and living each moment to the fullest. It is a true celebration of life.

My children and I are very, very proud of how Mark is dealing with this illness. He is a true Warrior! Juli says.

Sunflower Rev It Up For Parkinsons

The supportive community behind the Sunflower Rev It Up for Parkinsons event is not deterred by COVID-19. This years run, walk, and bike event can be completed anywhere and will continue to raise funds to support research and educational efforts at the James J. and Joan A. Gardner Family Center for Parkinsons Disease and Movement Disorders at the University of Cincinnati Gardner Neuroscience Institute.

Now a virtual event, participants in Sunflower Rev It Up for Parkinsons can track their progress on a downloadable personal tracker through Sept. 11. Donations will be accepted through Dec. 31, 2020.

While we cant be together physically, we can be together in spirit and through a common goal, says Kathleen Krumme, volunteer and event founder. Unfortunately, Parkinsons doesnt ever go virtual and raising funds to support research and educational efforts is more important than ever.

Proceeds from the event also provide a free symposium for patients and caregivers impacted by Parkinsons disease. This event draws 700 participants annually.

Krumme launched Sunflower Rev It Up for Parkinsons in 2014 when her father was in the early stages of the disease. Now a tight-knit community, Krumme says this year teams are coming up with creative online fundraising ideas, like the new Sunflower Rev It Up Devou Hill Climb Challenge for cyclists. Prizes will be awarded to the winners and a Facebook Live celebration will be held on Sept. 12.
