Does Aluminum Cause Parkinson’s

The ‘dark Side’ Of Aluminum Exposed

What is Parkinson’s disease? | Nervous system diseases | NCLEX-RN | Khan Academy

The featured documentary, The Age of Aluminum, reveals the “dark side” of this toxic metal, exploring the scientific links between aluminum and diseases such as breast cancer and neurological disorders. Also exposed is how aluminum mining and manufacturing have created acute ecological problems across the globe, leading to environmental disasters in Hungary, South Africa, and the UK. In the film, neuroscientist Christopher Shaw reports:5

“Many researchers are beginning to accept that aluminum has some sort of role to play in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s. Whether it does in others is still an open question, but Alzheimer’s is really coming into focus and it’s fairly clear that the body burden of aluminum from all the sources to which humans are exposed may be contributing to Alzheimer’s disease.”

Data Analysis Of Healthcare Records

For the studies, the researchers examined healthcare records from 12,275,551 individuals from several national registers in Sweden. They followed them between 1970 and 2016 and recorded diagnoses of neurodegenerative diseases, emigration, and death.

Infections were recorded according to type- bacterial, viral, or other, and site- including the central nervous system , gastrointestinal tract, respiratory, or skin infection. Data also included age of infection and frequency.

The researchers excluded patients who had an infection within 5 years of neurodegenerative diagnosis to avoid surveillance bias and reverse causation.

Altogether, 291,941 people in the analysis developed Alzheimers, 103,919 had Parkinsons, and 10,161 had ALS.

After analyzing the data, the researchers found that a hospital-treated infection 5 or more years prior to diagnosis was linked to a 16% higher risk of AD and a 4% higher risk of PD.

Similar risks were seen for bacterial, viral, and other infections and for different infection sites.

The link was primarily observed in those diagnosed with AD and PD before age 60, as opposed to those diagnosed later.

The biggest risk was observed among those with hospital-treated infections earlier in life multiple infections before age 40 were linked to an almost double risk of AD and a 40% higher risk for PD.

The Claim: Heat Causes Aluminum To Leach Into Food And Causes Dementia Alzheimers Parkinson’s And Cancer

An undated article from a website called “Natural Beauty Secrets” that has been circulating on social media warns that cooking with aluminum allows it to leach into food and cause cancer and different neurological conditions including dementia, Alzheimer’s and autism spectrum disorders.

Aluminum is found in many household products, including utensils, foil, baking powder and over-the counter medicines. It is the most common metal and makes up 8% of the Earths mass. Because of this, aluminum is literally everywhere, including drinking water and food. Some foods, like citrus fruits, have more aluminum than others.

Naturally occurring aluminum is rarely encountered in its metallic, elemental form. Typically, aluminum is found in the environment as aluminum salts or other compounds such as aluminum citrate. This material circulates through the environment and food web. Adults naturally have between 30-50 milligrams of aluminum in their body at any given time.

“Analytical chemistry is sufficiently sensitive now that I’m not aware of anything that, naturally, in our environment, food, water and everything else, where it cannot be detected,” said Dr. Robert Yokel, a professor of toxicology at the University of Kentucky who studies aluminum.

Aluminium Exposure And Parkinson’s Disease

Hello When I was diagnosed With Parkinson’s 10 years ago the first thing the Doctor asked me was if any one in my family had it . I know neither of my parents nor any of my brothers or sisters has it, The best evidence I had was that one of my grandfathers had a hand that shook and from what I’ve been told it looked exactly like mine does, But he was never diagnosed and he died before anyone could find out

Aluminum Exposure With Diet

Excessive exposure to this metal may be linked to Parkinsons disease ...

Exposure to Al in humans is mainly through diet. Al exposure to the diet can be through contamination of foods, food additives, water, and Al kitchenwares. The amount of Al in foods differs according to their Al content or the interaction of nutrients with the Al kitchenwares in the process of storage, preparation, and cooking of foods. Although the amount of Al in the soil is high , many plants contain low amounts of Al. When the pH of the soil is < 4.55.0, Al is dissolved in water and absorbed by the root of the plant. The amount of Al in animal-derived foods depends on the low amount of Al in animal feed and on the limited availability of Al to animals in animal-derived products such as eggs and milk. As a result, most of the animal-derived foods contain < 1 g/g Al.

The Difference In Scientific Methodology

Many have claimed that Monsanto funded the studies and research done by those organizations and scientists to promote the safety of Roundup, the company that makes and sells Roundup. Investigation of this exact topic occurred in the publication Environmental Sciences Europe, which concluded that either Monsanto or other companies that market or sell glyphosate-containing products funded the studies that deem Roundup safe. The organizations that claim the dangers of Roundup rely only on peer-reviewed studies that use independently collected research.

Aluminum Foil Is Safe When Used Cold Like Wrapping A Sandwich For The Fridge However Using It Hot Or Even Warm The Foil Is Degraded And Seeps Into The Food

When hot or heated, the levels of aluminum that leak into the food are considerably higher if the food actually touches the foil, if seasonings are added, or if the food is acidic. The hotter the foil is heated, the more seepage occurs.

This result occurs no matter which side of the foil is next to the food. Aluminum impedes with the digestion of calcium, phosphorus, and fluoride, which can even result in osteoporosis. It harms the kidneys and impairs the liver.

It is linked to neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinsons and Alzheimers. It can lead to sleep disturbance, and speech problems. There are lots of sources of aluminum in our day to day lives antacids, vaccines, antiperspirants, even drinking water. So were already getting a heavy dose of aluminum. Cooking in aluminum foil or aluminum pans increase exposure.

Aluminum And Neurological Disorders

Alzheimer’s disease

AD is characterized by a neurological progressive impairment affecting several cognitive domains, behavior, and personality. AD is accompanied by changes in cerebral functions as a result of biochemical incidents, each of which is related with each other. These cerebral dysfunctions result in difficulties in receiving/processing new information, difficulties in doing previously known activities/works, confusion, not participating in social activities, loss of memory, and personality changes. Typical neuropathological signs of the disease are intracellular neurofibrillary tangles , deposition of extracellular senile plaques (hyper phosphorylation of AP, optimal losses of synapses and neurons in hippocampal and cerebral cortical regions, cortical and subcortical atrophy, and cerebrovascular amyloids. Early-onset AD is related to familial gene mutations, which results in increased secretion of neurotoxic AP. Apolipoprotein E susceptibility gene is a risk factor in AD. The late-onset AD, detected in 85%95% of the cases of AD, is not related with any gene mutation.

The role of Al in AD was related to different incidents, independent from each other. These are as follows:

  • High concentrations of Al increase amyloid aggregation and deposition, the main feature of the neuropathology of AD
  • Al-induced mRNAs and microRNAs show similarity with mRNAs and miRNAs
  • In the studies, the amount of Al in water was related to the incidence of AD.

    What Is The Alzheimers Prayer

    Understanding Parkinson’s disease

Treat me with respect because I would have treated you that way. Think of how I was before I got Alzheimers I was full of life, I had a life, laughed and loved you. Think of how I am now, My disease distorts my thinking, my feelings, and my ability to respond, but I still love you even if I cant tell you.

Who Is Most At Risk Of Developing Parkinsons Disease After Coming Into Contact With Paraquat

Farmers and agricultural workers are largely at risk of developing Parkinsons disease after coming into contact with paraquat. This is mostly because these workers are certified to apply the herbicide in their fields and work environments.

However, according to The Unified Parkinsons Advocacy Council, people who had primary or secondary exposure to paraquat during their adolescence or young adult years have a higher risk of developing Parkinsons by 200% to 600%. As such, if you worked or lived in environments that may have been exposed to paraquat dichloride, you may be able to hold the appropriate party liable for your damages.

Parkinsons Disease And Alcohol: Your Guide

    | | |

If you have Parkinsons disease , you may be wondering whether alcohol consumption affects the development or progression of your condition. Some people may wonder if they should avoid drinking completely. As one MyParkinsonsTeam member asked, How does alcohol affect Parkinsons how much can I drink? Or should I avoid drinking altogether?

Some studies havent found that small amounts of alcohol are associated with a higher PD risk, while others highlight the dangers alcohol can pose for anyone with a chronic condition. In addition, there may be adverse interactions between alcohol and common Parkinsons medications. Because of conflicting information, people with PD may feel confused about whether or not to drink.

Ive been told by more than one doctor that I should not have any alcohol, one MyParkinsonsTeam member wrote. And at this point, I dont remember which doctor or specifically why.

So, how do you decide what approach to take?

If you have Parkinsons disease and are trying to decide whether or not to reduce your drinking or quit alcohol completely here are some things to consider.

Deparaffinisation And Rehydration Of Brain Tissue Sections

Deparaffinisation of human brain tissue sections was achieved through immersion in Histo-Clear for 3 min, followed by 1 min in fresh Histo-Clear. The latter was performed to remove any remaining wax. Histo-Clear was removed by immersion in pure ethanol for 2 min. Sections were rehydrated through an ethanol gradient for 1 min in each solvent. Sections were washed twice with ultrapure water for 30 s to remove any remaining ethanol before staining procedures. Gentle agitation was performed at every stage to provide a thorough removal of any prior solvent.

Study: Potential Link Between Parkinsons Disease And A Widely

One of the countrys most widely-used herbicides could be linked to an increase in early deaths from Parkinsons disease for people who live near farmlands, according to new research in Washington.

Parkinsons is a neurodegenerative disease that causes muscles to stop functioning properly. There are no known cures.

New research conducted in some of Washingtons most productive agricultural regions suggests glyphosate, the active ingredient in the popular herbicide Roundup, could be linked to more people dying from Parkinsons disease before they turn 75.

I remember sitting in the office, and I think we were all looking at each other and thinking, Wow, thats serious, said Mariah Caballero, the studys lead author.

The research team studied land-use maps from the U.S. Department of Agriculture that showed agricultural chemical applications and death data from the Washington Department of Health. In some cases, the researchers found that people living within 1 kilometer of an area that had sprayed glyphosate were nearly one-third more likely to die from Parkinsons disease before reaching the age of 75.

Caballero, a senior at Vassar College, conducted the research at Washington State Universitys Community Health and Spatial Epidemiology Lab. The study was published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health.

Other Research Has Found Parkinsons Associated With Heavy Metals

Other research has found this association between iron and copper and Parkinsons disease. A 2010 study from Slovakia tested the relationship between iron and copper and Parkinsons and found that when iron and copper become oxidized they form Fenton reaction hydroxyl radicals, and this not only increases lipid peroxidation but also oxidizes DNA within the brain. They also produce advanced glycation end products, carbonyls, and malondiaildehyde .

These also increase tyrosine derivative levels including dityrosine and 3-nitrotyrosine among brain cells. Increased levels of dityrosine and 3-nitrotyrosine have been found among many Parkinsons cases. These are associated with increased lewy bodies and alpha-synuclein proteins.

At the foundation of these processes is oxidative stress. This is when toxins such as heavy metals become radicalized. In this state they can damage blood vessels and cells they come into contact with.

Researchers at Rutgers University also found this oxidative stress association related to increased copper:

alpha-synuclein is an amyloidogenic intrinsically disordered protein implicated in Parkinsons disease, for which copper-mediated pathways of neurodegeneration have been suggested.

    Roundup And Other Serious Illnesses

While we commonly associate the medical condition of non-Hodgkin lymphoma with exposure to Roundup, from an article published in Interdisciplinary Toxicology, there are other serious illnesses that Roundup causes as well:

    • Neurodegenerative diseases, such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder , Parkinsons disease, Alzheimers disease, or other similar types of neurodegenerative diseases
    • Reproductive medical conditions, including the development of birth defects
    • Fatty liver disease
    • Kidney and liver damage
    • Endocrine disruption, which can lead to several types of serious medical conditions
    • Structural changes to the skin, which may affect DNA and the development of other types of cancers and medical conditions

Other research indicates that Roundup can also cause different types of cancers, such as pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, kidney cancer, and other serious and life-threatening medical illnesses.

The True Cause of Dementia, Parkinsonâs, and Alzheimerâs (Anthony William, The Medical Medium)

According to the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry , people exposed occupationally or environmentally to the chemicals detected in the drinking water at Camp Lejeune may be at an increased risk of developing Parkinsons disease.

For example, ASTDR explained that TCE is a mitochondrial neurotoxin in animal studies and mitochondrial dysfunctions in substantia nigra dopamine neurons is consistent with human pathological staging of Parkinsons.

Furthermore, a Committee from the Institute of Medicine who was asked by the Veterans Administration to review certain medical conditions, concluded that consumption of contaminated drinking water at Camp Lejeune may be linked to neurobehavioral effects such as Parkinsons:

he committee finds that TCE and similar solvents may have potential etiologic relevance in the development of Parkinsons disease. The committee concludes that Parkinsons disease is a neurobehavioral effect that may have resulted from the consumption of the contaminated drinking water at Camp Lejeune. This conclusion is based on the positive trends of increased risks from occupational and drinking water exposures reported by Goldman et al. , NRC , and Bove et al. .

What Are My Options If I Am Experiencing Symptoms Of Parkinsons Following Paraquat Exposure

If you are living with the consequences of exposure to paraquat, you have legal options at your disposal. Hundreds of lawsuits have been filed against the makers of paraquat including Chevron Chemical and Syngentabased on the link between Parkinsons disease and exposure to the chemical.

The risks of exposure to paraquat are not based on a simple mistake. There is evidence to suggest that the makers of paraquat were aware of the risks the chemical posed and sold it to the public regardless.

The cost of treating Parkinsons disease can be overwhelming, especially given that those who live with it quickly lose their ability to maintain employment. A civil lawsuit could provide the financial means needed to cover the cost of treating Parkinsons disease and its associated symptoms.

    Why File A Paraquat Lawsuit

Were you or a close relative diagnosed with Parkinsons disease due to Paraquat? Are you suspecting the deadly herbicide may have caused your illness?

The only option to ascertain if you qualify is to request a free case evaluation and file for compensation for your punitive damages.

Some epidemiological studies identified the correlation between paraquat use and Parkinsons disease. Also, data reveals a five-fold risk of Parkinsons among those holding occupational positions where workers regularly encounter chemical toxins, including the farming industry.

Unfortunately, many crop workers and farmers were unaware of the severe health risks of using, handling or breathing the restricted-use herbicide. As a result, many individuals seek justice and financial compensation through paraquat claims.

Here are some reasons to file a paraquat Parkinsons lawsuit:

    How To Detect Heavy Metals

Detecting increased heavy metal content within the body is sometimes difficult to determine through blood testing. This is because heavy metals can accumulate among cells. Therefore, while increased levels within the blood are a sure sign of excessive exposure, previous exposure accumulated within cells is more readily determined using hair analysis.

Furthermore, a hair analysis should be reviewed by a specialist who understands the test.

Anyone with a neurological disorder might consider having a hair analysis done.
